Commemorations marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, organizers and officials said.
Organizers said the events honored the victims, the first responders who ran toward danger and the emergency personnel who worked in the aftermath.
They said the observances also highlighted acts of courage, compassion and service that followed the attacks.
Organizers urged continued remembrance of those who were lost and recognition of the efforts of responders and emergency workers, organizers and officials said.
