Ripley resident sentenced to prison in shooting death of stepson.

Ricky Garner Childers, 63, was charged with murder but pled guilty to the lesser charge of culpable negligence manslaughter in November 2022.

He was sentenced to 20 years in MDOC custody during the February circuit court session. 11 years were suspended.

Childers was charged with murder in the Fatal shooting of Derrick Glass in September 2018.

The charges were filed and bond made on Friday, September 28th 2018.
