Walnut Volleyball Faces Unbeaten East Union for North State Title

Walnut volleyball gets its rematch. The Lady Wildcats (31-4) travel to Blue Springs to face unbeaten East Union (36-0) at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, in the North State final, with a trip to the state championship on the line.

Walnut comes in on a 12-match winning streak, according to Tippah Sports. The Lady Wildcats have swept all three of their playoff opponents, most recently beating Myrtle 3-0 last Thursday to reach their fourth straight North State final.

Walnut Volleyball Gets a Shot at Revenge

The road to a title runs through the only team that seems to have Walnut’s number. East Union beat the Lady Wildcats 3-1 when the teams met on Sept. 1. The Urchins haven’t lost all season, and Monday’s match will be at East Union High School.

Since that September loss, Walnut has kept winning. Their run of 12 straight wins includes three playoff sweeps without dropping a set.

The Last Ride for Walnut Volleyball

This season carries extra weight in Walnut. Walnut and Falkner high schools are set to combine into North Tippah High School, at the Walnut Attendance Center campus, after the 2026-27 school year, so this group is among the last to play under the Walnut High School name.

Walnut is now the only Tippah County volleyball team still playing. Ripley, Pine Grove and Falkner have all finished their seasons, so Monday night’s match is the county’s last shot at a volleyball title this fall.

What’s Next

The North State winner advances to the state championship. Tippah News will post the result after the match. Fans making the trip to Blue Springs should plan for warm weather. Forecasters expect near-record highs in the low 90s across north Mississippi early this week.
