Tippah County sports roundup, Sept. 17, 2026: Ripley awaits unbeaten East Webster; two volleyball teams host tonight

Ripley will try to even its football record Friday against unbeaten East Webster, while Pine Grove and Falkner open their gyms for Thursday evening volleyball matches.

The Tigers enter Friday’s 7 p.m. home game at 1–2. East Webster is 3–0. The matchup begins a three-game home stretch for Ripley, according to TippahSports.com’s look ahead.

Walnut, 2–1, travels to Alcorn Central on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Falkner’s next football game is at home against East Union on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.

Thursday volleyball

Pine Grove hosts Biggersville and Falkner welcomes Thrasher, with both matches scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17. Pine Grove carries a 6–1 district record into its match.

The two home contests are also listed in TippahSports.com’s Thursday schedule report. Looking ahead, Ripley hosts Senatobia on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m., and Walnut visits New Site on Sept. 22 at 6 p.m.

Golf and cross-country

Thursday’s golf schedule lists Walnut in Booneville at 8:30 a.m. and Falkner there at 2 p.m. for a nine-hole match. Ripley’s next listing is an 18-hole event at Hillendale on Sept. 22; no start time was provided.

Blue Mountain, Pine Grove and Walnut head to Saturday’s Ingomar Invitational at BNA Tennis Park in New Albany. Varsity girls are scheduled for approximately 9 a.m., followed by boys at 9:30. Ripley’s girls and boys run at Saltillo High School at 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., respectively.
