Middleton Volleyball Sweeps Hillcrest in Regional Opener

Middleton volleyball made quick work of Hillcrest in the first round of regionals Monday night, sweeping the Vikings 3-0 at home to earn a spot in the championship match. The Lady Tigers won by scores of 25-0, 25-1 and 25-7, controlling the match from the service line.

The win sends Middleton on the road Tuesday, Oct. 13, to face Middle College High School for the title.

Serving Sets the Tone

Middleton’s servers did most of the damage. According to The Magnolia Post, the Lady Tigers piled up dozens of aces, with Macee Mitchell leading the way.

  • Macee Mitchell: 19 aces, 3 kills
  • MollyKate Hobbs: 9 aces
  • Brooklyn Webb: 6 aces, 2 kills
  • Abygael Fernandez: 10 kills, 2 aces

Fernandez led the attack at the net, while Mitchell’s long run behind the service line helped Middleton post a shutout in the opening set and allow just one point in the second.

Middleton Volleyball Heads to Championship Match

With the regional opener behind them, the Lady Tigers turn to Middle College High School in Tuesday’s championship match. Middleton will play that match on the road.

The postseason run comes just a couple of weeks after the program honored its seven seniors at its senior night celebration. The Middleton community, just north of Walnut across the Tennessee state line in Hardeman County, has followed the team closely this fall.
