Advocates urge reporting of elder abuse on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Advocates marking World Elder Abuse Awareness Day urged people to report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation of older adults, saying vigilance is a shared responsibility.

They said mandated reporters have a crucial role in speaking up when something seems wrong. Advocates said timely reports can prompt investigations and protect vulnerable adults.

The groups encouraged anyone who sees signs of mistreatment to report it, without specifying particular reporting channels.
