Authorities seek 19-year-old Cortavion Hobbs after officer-involved shooting in Mount Olive

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs, 19, is wanted and believed to be armed and dangerous in connection with an officer-involved shooting on June 8, 2026, at about 3:38 p.m. in Mount Olive.

MBI said Hobbs could be in the area of the 200 block of South Bluff Street in Mount Olive, Covington County.

MBI said Zykerian Quentavius Magee has been cleared as a subject. The agency said it is gathering information about a second subject and will provide updates when available.

The agency described Hobbs as a Black male wearing a camouflage hoodie, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Anyone with information was asked to call 911 or the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at 855-642-5378, MBI said.
