One suspect cleared; 19-year-old remains wanted after Mount Olive shooting
At 6:50 p.m. authorities said Zykerian Quentavius Magee, 19, has been cleared as a subject in an officer-involved shooting that occurred June 8, 2026, at about 3:38 p.m. in Mount Olive, Mississippi. Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs, 19, remains wanted and is believed to be armed and dangerous, authorities said.
A Blue Alert issued by law enforcement said both men were initially sought in connection with the shooting and were believed to be in the area of the 200 block of South Bluff Street in Mount Olive, Covington County. Authorities asked anyone who sees either man or notices suspicious activity to call 911 immediately.
The alert described Zykerian Quentavius Magee as a black male wearing a black hoodie, 19 years old, 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs was described as a black male wearing a camouflage hoodie, 19 years old, 5-foot-6 and 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, the alert said.
Authorities said they are gathering information about a second subject and will provide updates when available. Anyone with information was asked to call 911 or the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation tip line at 855-642-5378, officials said.
