TUPELO, Miss. — The First Circuit District Attorney’s Office announced the successful completion of Operation Reload on Thursday and introduced its next effort, Operation Loadout.
District Attorney Jason D. Herring credited law enforcement partners for their contributions, highlighting the leadership of Captain Leslie Brazil with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. Herring said the operation’s success was due to the dedication of multiple agencies and officers.
Operation Loadout is an expanded effort that will span county lines and focus on known drug trafficking hotspots. Herring emphasized that drug trafficking remains a top priority because of its links to violent crimes and child abuse in the community.
He added that law enforcement has successfully removed several major traffickers from the district, pursuing significant sentences when evidence supports prosecution. Herring stressed that the fight is ongoing and that authorities will continue targeting traffickers who profit from bringing drugs into the area.
Herring warned about the dangers of fentanyl, calling it an “absolute killer” that has dramatically changed the drug landscape. He urged residents to discuss the risks of fentanyl and fentanyl-laced drugs with loved ones, noting that such conversations could save lives.
Alongside law enforcement, the district attorney’s office remains committed to removing dangerous drugs from communities and holding those responsible accountable.
