Mississippi DOT pauses nonemergency lane closures for Labor Day weekend

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) said it will pause all non-emergent lane closures from Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7 to ease travel during the Labor Day holiday.

MDOT said the move is intended to increase travel capacity and reduce construction-related delays as more traffic is expected across the state for the holiday.

The pause applies statewide, MDOT said. The agency warned that some lanes will remain closed for safety and urged drivers to treat those areas as active work zones.
