The National Weather Service in Memphis issued a Heat Advisory for east Arkansas and northwest Mississippi from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., saying heat index values could reach 109 degrees.
The agency said there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms mainly along and northwest of the Mississippi River.
The National Weather Service said damaging winds and localized heavy rainfall are the primary threats from those storms.
