The National Weather Service in Memphis said a heat advisory remains in effect for portions of the Mid-South from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for heat index values at or above 105 degrees.
The agency said the advisory covers parts of the region and will be in place through the evening.
The National Weather Service also said there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon into early evening.
It said damaging winds are the primary threat from those storms.
