The Mississippi Department of Transportation is urging drivers to check traffic conditions before traveling as visitors converge on Tupelo for Elvis Week, MDOT said.
Visit Mississippi said people are making pilgrimages to the Elvis Presley Birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi, drawing increased traffic to the area.
MDOT said its free MDOT Traffic app and MDOTtraffic.com provide real-time access to traffic cameras, road conditions and reported impacts so drivers can see what is ahead and plan alternate routes if necessary.
The department encouraged motorists to check those resources before hitting the highway and to drive cautiously during the holiday events, MDOT said.
