The Mississippi Department of Transportation urged residents to learn about contraflow before evacuation traffic forms as the 2026 hurricane season begins, MDOT said.
MDOT said it released a video that explains how contraflow operates and how evacuation routes may be used during emergencies.
The agency said people can download a Hurricane Evacuation Guide and an emergency checklist at GoMDOT.com/Hurricanes, and that additional information about contraflow is available at https://bit.ly/4yRMy67.
MDOT said the resources are free and urged residents to prepare before forecasts require hurried evacuations.
