The Mississippi Highway Patrol said it opened the southbound side of Highway 49 in Stone County to contraflow traffic after flooding near Red Creek Market.
Contraflow means one lane is being used for northbound traffic and one lane for southbound traffic, the patrol said.
A social media post said the stretch was one of many roadways affected across south Mississippi.
The post urged residents to stay home if travel is not necessary, remain aware of weather conditions and never drive through flooded roads.
