The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, or MEMA, said it is closely monitoring Tropical Depression Two and expects it to become a tropical storm later today.
MEMA said the system is expected to impact Mississippi in the coming days.
Areas of flash flooding are possible through Friday along the Gulf Coast and in southern Mississippi, MEMA said.
MEMA urged residents to monitor the storm’s progress and take precautions, writing, ‘Stay safe, Mississippi!’
