Dangerous heat expected across Mississippi through July 22

Dangerous heat is expected across Mississippi from Monday, July 20, through Wednesday, July 22, forecasters said.

Heat indices could reach 110 to 115 degrees in the Mississippi Delta and up to 110 degrees elsewhere in the state, the forecasters said.

Officials warned that prolonged outdoor exposure could quickly lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke and urged residents to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks if they are outside.

Officials also advised people to move to air-conditioned locations whenever possible and never to leave children or pets in a parked vehicle. Forecasters urged residents to monitor local forecasts and follow any advisories from health or emergency management agencies.
