Oppressive heat and humidity are expected to persist across the Mid-South through the Labor Day weekend, the National Weather Service in Memphis said.
The NWS said heat advisories are in effect and that afternoon heat indices are expected to reach 105 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
The agency urged residents to take frequent breaks, stay hydrated and never leave children or pets in a hot vehicle.
The National Weather Service in Memphis said minor relief is expected to arrive early next week.
