Miss. DOT, state agencies recognize May 3-9 as National Hurricane Preparedness Week

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) said it joined the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and other state agencies in recognizing May 3-9 as National Hurricane Preparedness Week.

Hurricane season runs June 1-Nov. 30, and MDOT urged residents to prepare now, the agency said.

MDOT said the agency has posted the 2026 MDOT Hurricane Evacuation Guide in English, Spanish and Vietnamese, a Hurricane Emergency Checklist and the MDOT Traffic mobile app at GoMDOT.com/hurricanes.

Officials encouraged residents to download the guides, checklists and app ahead of the season, MDOT said.
