Mississippi agency warns of severe storm risk May 5-7

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency warned Tuesday that parts of the state face an elevated risk of severe storms from May 5 through May 7, 2026.

MEMA said north Mississippi is under a slight risk of severe storms overnight on May 5.

The agency said central Mississippi has an enhanced risk for severe storms Wednesday afternoon, May 6, through early Thursday morning, May 7.

MEMA urged residents to follow their local meteorologist for the latest forecast and updates for their area.
