Mississippi Public Safety Summit awards honor top law enforcement and first responders

Jackson, Miss. — The Mississippi Public Safety Summit honored several individuals for their service and dedication to community safety during this year’s event.

Capt. William Kendrick of the Jackson Police Department was named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Officers Wyatt Webb and Brian Drieling of the Department of Marine Resources received the First Responders of the Year award. The Prosecutor of the Year award went to Angel McIlrath of the 19th Circuit Court District. Captain John Clark of the Belzoni Fire Department was recognized as Firefighter of the Year.

Organizers praised the awardees for their sacrifice and service in protecting communities across Mississippi. They also expressed gratitude to their teams and the Attorney General’s staff for supporting the event, which drew more than 900 attendees from across the state.

Founded four years ago, the summit aimed to foster collaboration among public safety professionals. Attendees and organizers alike noted the event’s growth and importance in strengthening partnerships and sharing knowledge within the field.
