Today, people across the country are honoring the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. A total of 2,977 people lost their lives that day, including 415 first responders who responded to the emergency.
Officials and community members remember those who were killed and pay tribute to the bravery of first responders. Many observed memorial services and ceremonies to mark the anniversary.
The nation continues to honor the sacrifices made by first responders and the victims of that tragic day. The memory of their heroism remains a vital part of the country’s history.
