Fewer Americans express pride in country ahead of 250th anniversary

Fewer Americans say they are proud of their country, according to a recent poll conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute. The survey found that 51% of respondents described themselves as either “extremely proud” or “very proud” of their American identity.

Twenty-three percent of those surveyed said they are “moderately proud,” while 14% reported feeling “not too proud” or “not proud at all,” the poll indicated. The results come as the United States prepares to mark its 250th anniversary.

The survey reflects shifting attitudes toward national pride and identity among Americans. Experts suggest the findings may be influenced by political and social divisions within the country, though specific reasons were not detailed in the poll.

The poll’s release coincides with increased discussions about national unity and the significance of the upcoming milestone celebration.
