Rep. Angie Craig offers herself to replace retiring WNBA commissioner
Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minn., offered herself Friday as a candidate to replace WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, who announced her retirement amid the league’s growing popularity and recent controversies, according to news reports.
“Hey, @WNBA, I’m a free agent in January,” Craig wrote on X on Friday, posting that she would be available when the commissioner’s job opens, the post shows.
Engelbert’s decision to step down was reported earlier this month and comes as the league has expanded its audience while also facing public scrutiny, news outlets reported.
Craig previously lost a Democratic primary to Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, according to reports.
