Powell to face Harding in Nebraska House race to replace Bacon

Democrat Denise Powell is projected to win the Democratic primary for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, according to Decision Desk HQ.

The primary victory positions Powell for a November contest against Republican candidate Mike Harding, as she seeks to succeed retiring Rep. Don Bacon.

Powell, a political fundraiser, defeated State Sen. John Cavanaugh, a member of a prominent Democratic family, in Tuesday’s primary.

The district is considered a key battleground in this year’s midterm elections, with both parties vying to secure the seat. The general election is scheduled for November.
