Trump brings Mike Tyson on stage at Syracuse rally, jokes he’s Bruce Blakeman’s security

President Donald Trump brought former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on stage while campaigning for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman at a Syracuse rally, Fox News reported Oct. 10, 2026.

Fox reported that Tyson had visited the White House earlier that day and traveled to Syracuse on Air Force One. During the rally, Trump singled out Tyson and joked that he was providing protection for Blakeman, saying in part, “Bruce wants a little protection, he’s got the right guy.”

Tyson was later called up on stage and told the crowd, “I’m just happy to be here with my president, President Trump,” Fox reported.

Fox also said New York Yankees president Randy Levine attended the event. Trump referenced the Yankees’ recent postseason sweep and remarked it “didn’t matter” because of the team’s broader success.

Fox noted that Blakeman is running to replace Gov. Kathy Hochul, who has served as New York’s governor since August 2021. The report added that Trump made the trip before he had been scheduled to attend Saturday’s Alabama-Georgia game in Tuscaloosa, a change the White House attributed to Hurricane Isaias.
