Bolivar Book Swap Returns Nov. 6 at Hardeman County Library
Readers looking to clear off a shelf and find something new will get their chance next month. The Bolivar Book Swap returns to the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library on Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, from noon until 2 p.m., according to Hatchie Press.
Bolivar Book Swap details
- What: Bolivar Book Swap, a book exchange for local readers
- When: Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, noon to 2 p.m.
- Where: Bolivar-Hardeman County Library, 213 North Washington Street, Bolivar, Tenn.
- Drop-in: Readers can stop by any time during the two-hour window.
How the swap works
The idea is simple: trade books you have already enjoyed for ones you have not read yet. Participants can bring as many books as they like. For every book they bring, they receive one ticket, and each ticket can be traded for another book at the swap.
All genres are welcome. Organizers say the event is a chance to discover new authors, explore different interests and share favorite stories with other readers in the community.
What to bring, and what to leave at home
Organizers ask that books be in good condition. Damaged or moldy books will not be accepted, so it is a good idea to sort through a stack before heading to the library.
- Bring clean, readable books with intact covers and pages.
- Leave water-damaged, moldy or falling-apart books at home.
- Any books left over after the swap may be offered as donations to the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library.
An easy outing for Middleton-area readers
The Bolivar library is the county library for Hardeman County, which includes the Middleton area just north of the Mississippi state line. Readers from Middleton, and from Walnut and northern Tippah County who already make trips to Bolivar, may want to put the swap on the calendar. It falls on a Friday afternoon, and the only thing needed to take part is a few good books to trade.
The swap is one of several community events around Bolivar this fall. Tippah News has also covered the March of Dogs parade and the Fall Fling disc golf tournament at Pleasant Run Creek Park, which is set for the next day, Saturday, Nov. 7.
Questions about the event can be directed to the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library. Readers who cannot make it on Nov. 6 can still visit the library during its regular hours to browse its collection and check out books with a library card.
