Tippah County sports roundup, Oct. 2, 2026: Pine Grove rallies; Ripley and Falkner sweep
Pine Grove rallied past Saltillo in four sets Thursday, Oct. 1, while Ripley and Falkner added home volleyball sweeps to give Tippah County teams three victories. Blue Mountain Christian’s soccer teams also earned a win and a draw at Brewton-Parker.
Three home volleyball wins
Pine Grove recovered from a 25–22 opening-set loss to beat Saltillo 3–1, improving to 21–11. The Panthers took the next two sets 25–20 and 25–21 before closing the match in the fourth for their 10th home win of the season.
Ripley swept Clarksdale 3–0 to move to 7–0 in district play and 15–15 overall. Falkner beat Biggersville 25–14, 25–19, 25–15, improving to 7–3 in Class 1A Region 1 and 9–16 overall.

Estebanez scores twice in BMCU victory
Santiago Estebanez scored twice as Blue Mountain Christian’s men beat Brewton-Parker 4–1 Thursday in Mount Vernon, Georgia. Davi Rainato opened the scoring, and Sammuel Davi Cavalcante added a goal and an assist.
The Toppers led 2–1 at halftime before adding two second-half goals. Goalkeeper Luan Nascimento made three saves. BMCU improved to 5–2–3 overall and 2–1–1 in SSAC play and is scheduled to face Thomas University on Saturday.

BMCU women earn a draw
Nayelli Aguayo scored in the 54th minute to give Blue Mountain Christian’s women the lead at Brewton-Parker, but Daria Cwynar equalized in the 73rd as the teams finished 1–1 Thursday evening.
Aguayo put all five of her shots on target. The Toppers finished with 13 shots, including 12 on goal, and are scheduled to play Thomas University on Saturday.
