Tippah County sports roundup, Sept. 16, 2026: Falkner rallies; BMCU golfers take second
Falkner rallied from two sets down to beat Wheeler on Tuesday, while Walnut and Ripley swept their opponents in Tippah County volleyball. Blue Mountain Christian also had an individual golf champion and two conference cross-country honorees in the latest reporting from Tippah County Sports.
Falkner finishes comeback; Walnut reaches 21 wins
The Eagles won 24–26, 16–25, 25–20, 25–21, 15–11 at home, snapping a three-match losing streak and improving to 5–12 overall and 3–2 in district play.
Walnut swept New Site 3–0 at home to move to 21–4 and remain unbeaten in the district at 5–0. Ripley beat visiting Alcorn Central 25–13, 25–17, 25–23, bringing the Tigers to 11–11.
Falkner hosts Thrasher and Pine Grove hosts Biggersville on Thursday at 6 p.m. Central. Ripley next hosts Senatobia on Monday at 6 p.m. Central. Tippah County Sports had no verified Tuesday finals for Pine Grove’s match against Jumpertown or Ripley’s golf event at Booneville when its report was published.

Nordstrom wins as BMCU takes second
Alex Nordstrom won the individual title at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational as No. 16 Blue Mountain Christian opened its fall men’s golf season with a runner-up finish at Sea Palms Golf Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
The Toppers shot 830 over three rounds, five strokes behind Reinhardt. Nordstrom finished at 199 after rounds of 70, 65 and 64, winning by six strokes. Cobey Riddle placed third at 204, and Axel Houdaille finished seventh at 209.

Shepherd, Barnhardt earn conference honors
Blue Mountain Christian’s Ella Shepherd and Jonah Barnhardt earned SSAC cross-country runner of the week awards following the Harding Invitational.
Shepherd, a sophomore, finished sixth in the women’s 5K in 19:45.80. Junior Barnhardt placed seventh in the men’s four-mile race in 21:17.60.
