Blue Mountain Students Explore Jobs at MPOWER Career Expo

Blue Mountain School juniors and seniors spent a day exploring jobs and college options at the 2026 MPOWER College and Career Expo, held last Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Crossroads Arena in Corinth. The MPOWER career expo drew high school students from Alcorn, Tippah, Tishomingo and Prentiss counties.

Blue Mountain K12 School shared a recap of the trip on its Facebook page Monday.

Hands-On Look at Local Careers at the MPOWER Career Expo

The school described the expo as a hands-on, experience-oriented event. Local businesses and industries set up displays, and students got the chance to interact with equipment and learn about different career pathways in the region.

That kind of up-close look matters in northeast Mississippi, where manufacturing, health care, skilled trades and transportation are major employers. Seeing the work firsthand can help students decide which classes, certifications or programs to pursue before graduation.

College Options on Display

Students also met with college representatives, including Northeast Mississippi Community College and several public and private four-year universities. NEMCC, based in Booneville, operates a center in Ripley and is a common next step for Tippah County graduates.

The school said the conversations gave students a clearer picture of their educational options after high school.

Career Coach Credited

Blue Mountain School thanked its career coach, Deana Reno, for organizing the trip. School career coaches help students connect their interests to job and training options, set up career events and guide students through planning for work or college.
