North MS police chief assigns extra officers to Walmart after threats of violence made
A police chief in North MS is taking extra precautions after a threat of violence against African Americans started circulating on social media.
From New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson:
“I have been made aware of a Social Media threat about violence against Africa Americans at the New Albany Walmart and Tupelo Walmart for this weekend and next. I’ve contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and Tupelo P. D. We believe that there is no credible threat at this time but all agencies involved are taking the matter seriously and are taking all necessary precautions.
As far as the New Albany Walmart, I have assigned extra patrols to ensure the safety of everyone while they shop through out the weekend.”
