The Tippah County supervisors will hold two regular meetings in the first week of October, gathering at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, and again at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, in the board room of the county building at 101 E. Spring St. in Ripley. Both sessions are open to the public, and residents who want to speak to the board need to arrange it ahead of time.
The two dates follow the board’s standing schedule, which the county posts on its official website. The Board of Supervisors meets three times a month: on the Friday before the first Monday, on the first Monday itself, and on the 15th, with adjustments when a holiday falls on a meeting day. After the Oct. 2 and Oct. 5 sessions, the next regular meeting would be Thursday, Oct. 15.

Who Sits on the Board
Tippah County is divided into five supervisor districts. Each supervisor is elected by district voters to a four-year term, and together the board serves as the county’s governing body, setting goals and directing the county’s growth and development. According to the county website, the current board members are:

District 3: Mike Graves
District 4: Glen Michael
District 5: Chad Newby
Melinda Crum serves as county administrator.
How to Address the Board
Anyone who wants to appear before the supervisors must notify the Board Office or the county administrator before the meeting, and any supporting documents should be turned in ahead of time as well. That rule applies whether a resident wants to raise a road concern, ask about a county service, or present a request on behalf of a group.

A Busy Week in Ripley
The October meetings bracket a busy stretch in the county seat. The Ripley First Monday Trade Day October Market runs the weekend of Oct. 3-4, and Monday, Oct. 5, is also the deadline to register to vote in Mississippi’s Nov. 3 general election. The supervisors are also the body that requested the county’s current burn ban from the Mississippi Forestry Commission. The ban took effect Sept. 18 and is set to run through Oct. 18 unless it is changed. Read more in our coverage of the Tippah and Benton burn bans.
