The National Weather Service in Memphis said portions of the Mid-South are in a Slight (level 2 of 5) risk for severe storms on Tuesday and Wednesday, with threats of damaging winds, a few tornadoes and heavy rain.

A high-resolution model loop suggests morning showers and thunderstorms will weaken by noon Tuesday. The model indicates storms will develop along a cold front and move into the Mid-South Tuesday night.

A major water line was accidentally cut, leaving the majority of Ripley without water. Crews are on site and officials expect service to be restored in about an hour.

MEMA said it has received reports of people charging storm victims $150 to complete FEMA and SBA assistance applications and urged residents to use the agency’s website for official help. The agency said neither FEMA, the Small Business Administration nor MEMA charge to fill out forms.
