NWS Memphis warns of severe storms, flash flooding and heat

The National Weather Service in Memphis warned of a threat for severe weather and flash flooding from this afternoon through overnight, saying there remains considerable uncertainty about timing and coverage.

The office said there could be two rounds of storms. Both rounds carry a risk of damaging wind gusts and flash flooding, the National Weather Service in Memphis said, and it urged people to remain weather aware starting this afternoon.

The service also warned of high temperatures across the Mid-South, with highs in the low to mid 90s. The office said almost the entire area will likely see heat index values climb above 100, and some locations across eastern Arkansas and the Mississippi Delta could exceed 105.

The National Weather Service in Memphis advised residents to monitor local forecasts and heed any watches or warnings issued by the office.
