Emily Pollard earns Northeast Way Award for community impact

Emily Pollard has been named this month’s recipient of the Northeast Way Award, which recognizes employees who make a meaningful difference through kindness, encouragement, and community involvement. The award highlights those who inspire others and foster a supportive environment.

According to the organization, Pollard’s impact extends beyond her daily interactions. One former student recalled a conversation with her that left a lasting impression. The student said Pollard told them they were capable of anything, regardless of others’ opinions. Pollard shared that moment in her “You Are Worth It!” blog, emphasizing her belief in her students’ potential.

Pollard also shared advice her grandmother gave her: “Do not let anyone determine your success or failure; the only one who can do that is you.” Her support for students is evident through her involvement in programs such as the Tiger Den, community outreach, after-school activities, sports, band, cheer, and the Black Student Union, among others.

Her efforts remind students they are valued and capable, even when they doubt themselves. The organization congratulated Pollard on her award and thanked her for her ongoing dedication to students and the Northeast community.
