America250 Mississippi urges safety ahead of Fourth of July festivities

America250 Mississippi urged residents to take safety precautions ahead of Fourth of July celebrations, saying the organization wants events to be filled with good food, company and safe fireworks use, according to a social media post.

The group warned people to watch for pedestrians, especially children and pets, and to keep fireworks out of roadways so vehicles are not endangered and traffic can keep moving.

America250 Mississippi also advised that anyone who has been drinking should find a sober ride and that people should heed “professional use only” warnings on fireworks to avoid injuries, the post said.

The organization encouraged attendees to clean up picnic trash and firework debris after events and to celebrate responsibly to protect people and property, the post added.
