Mississippi DOT urges drivers to keep right, pass left after Fourth of July
The Mississippi Department of Transportation urged motorists to keep right and pass on the left in a social media post following Fourth of July celebrations, the department said.
The post referenced the conclusion of MDOT’s Star-Spangled Sign event and invoked the nation’s Revolutionary War history, saying George Washington crossed the Delaware and led the nation after its break from Great Britain, according to MDOT.
MDOT told drivers to avoid lingering in the left lane once they have passed slower traffic and asked motorists to “share the road,” the post said. The department said keeping traffic flowing improves safety and travel for all motorists.
The post included references to America250 Mississippi and used hashtags promoting the event and traffic safety, including #MDOTsStarSpangledSign, #FourthOfJuly, #America250, #America250MS and #ShareTheRoad, MDOT said.
