Former Mississippi teacher gets 18-year sentence for child exploitation

Wilson Frederick Jones, 31, a former teacher with the Corinth School District, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to six counts of child exploitation in Alcorn County Circuit Court, according to court records.

Judge John R. White sentenced Jones to the custodial term, with the 18-year sentence to run concurrently with a previous 60-month federal sentence. Jones will serve the sentence day for day due to the nature of the offenses, court documents show. The judge suspended 102 years of potential additional sentences.

Prosecutors praised law enforcement for their work on the case. The Corinth Police Department, including Chief Landon Tucker, Detective Bo Swindle, and Detective Heather Russell, was acknowledged for its efforts. Federal authorities, including the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi, also contributed to the investigation.

Assistant District Attorneys Kyle Robbins and Clay Cummings prosecuted the case on behalf of the state. The district attorney’s office expressed appreciation for the collaboration that led to Jones’s conviction.
