The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) urged residents to take precautions during hot weather and listed three cooling centers in Greenwood, the agency said.
MEMA identified the cooling centers as Greenwood Senior Citizen Center at 507 Howard St., Greenwood Youth Center at 926 W. Henry St., and Old Greenwood Fire Station No. 3 at 106 E. Claiborne Ave., the agency said.
The agency advised people to watch for signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion, drink plenty of water and check on neighbors, especially the elderly, MEMA said.
MEMA said it will update its website with additional cooling center locations as local officials notify the agency. More information is available at https://www.msema.org/get-assistance/disaster-resources/shelters-and-safe-rooms, the agency said.
