MEMA warns Mississippi coast of 2- to 4-foot storm surge as Bertha moves west

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said in a post that the latest forecast shows Tropical Storm Bertha moving west and possibly making landfall in Louisiana.

Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where MEMA said tropical storm conditions are expected tonight, July 21, 2026, and Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

MEMA said a Storm Surge Watch is also in effect for Mississippi and the coast is expected to receive 2 to 4 feet of storm surge.

The agency said it is in constant contact with all county emergency management offices to ensure they have what they need to prepare and urged residents to “Stay safe, Mississippi!”
