Mississippi Disaster Assistance Centers to Close and Open in May

The Disaster Survivor Assistance Centers in several Mississippi counties will close on Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m., according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

Centers in Carroll, Coahoma, Grenada, Holmes, Montgomery, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tunica, and Yalobusha counties will cease operations this weekend. New centers will open on Monday, May 18, at 8 a.m. in Adams, Bolivar, Claiborne, Issaquena, Jefferson, Sharkey, Sunflower, Warren, and Washington counties.

Disaster Recovery Centers in Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Leflore, Panola, and Yazoo counties remain open. The agency reminded residents that the application deadline for assistance is June 10. All centers will close on Saturday, May 23.

Officials also clarified that receiving disaster benefits will not impact Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits, according to the agency.
