Segment of U.S. 98 in Greene County named for retired trooper
A one-mile stretch of U.S. 98 in Greene County was designated the Michael Robbins Memorial Highway, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said Monday.
The designation begins at the Chickasawhay River Bridge and extends north about one mile, MDOT said. The name honors retired Mississippi Highway Patrol officer Michael Robbins.
MDOT said speakers at the dedication included MDOT Southern District Transportation Commissioner Charles Busby; Greene County District 5 Supervisor David Tingle; Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Miller; and the Rev. Justin Cameron.
The dedication was held at Midway Baptist Church in Leakesville, MDOT said. The agency posted photos of the event online, MDOT added.
