Mississippi DOT Announces Permanent Traffic Shifts Near State Route 57 in Jackson County

The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced that permanent traffic shifts will begin Thursday morning near State Route 57 in Jackson County.

The shifts are part of the ongoing widening and construction project on State Route 57. They will affect Poticaw Bayou Road west of the existing highway and Jim Ramsey Road from Seaman Road to Seaman Road at Vancleave.

MDOT said the new Poticaw Bayou Road extension, located just west of the current SR 57, will open to traffic and connect to the new alignment of Jim Ramsey Road. Traffic will be diverted onto this new Jim Ramsey Road alignment, which runs just north of its original route from Seaman Road east of SR 57 to Seaman Road west of SR 57.

The original Jim Ramsey Road from Seaman Road to Seaman Road will be permanently closed to traffic, according to MDOT.

Motorists are advised to plan for the new traffic patterns starting at 9 a.m. Thursday. More details are available on MDOT’s website.
