MDOT urges safe driving ahead of Labor Day weekend

As Labor Day weekend begins, the Mississippi Department of Transportation urged drivers to take precautions and plan ahead, the agency said.

MDOT advised travelers to check conditions using the MDOT Traffic app or MDOTtraffic.com for real-time traffic information, the agency said.

The agency reminded motorists to plan for a sober ride if they will be drinking, to wear seat belts and ensure passengers do the same, and to verify that children are buckled into car seats appropriate for their height and weight, MDOT said.

MDOT also advised drivers to avoid distractions such as cell phones and food, obey posted speed limits and allow extra travel time because many people will be on the road. The agency provided additional information at https://bit.ly/4ygzOEJ.
