Mississippi DOT urges drivers to follow school bus and zone safety as classes resume

The Mississippi Department of Transportation urged drivers to use extra caution as the school year begins, saying more vehicles will be on the road carrying children.

MDOT urged drivers to respect flashing stop signs and stop arms on school buses. The agency said motorists must stop for buses loading and unloading students.

MDOT also told drivers to slow down in school zones, watch for pedestrians and children during pickup and drop-off times, and obey crossing guards and police directing traffic.
