Lamar County disaster service center to close Aug. 1

The Disaster Service Center at the Lamar County Community Center will close at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, a notice said.

The notice said residents whose homes or property were affected by the May 6-7 storms (DR-4922) can visit other Disaster Service Centers for help with FEMA applications, information on state and local resources, and to speak with U.S. Small Business Administration representatives about disaster loans.

The notice said centers remain open in Franklin, Lawrence, Lincoln and Wilkinson counties. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; centers are closed Sunday, the notice said.

The notice said people do not have to visit a center to apply for assistance. Applications are available at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA App, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), the notice said.
