Mississippi Highway Patrol members excel at Lawfit 2026 competition

Members of the Mississippi Highway Patrol demonstrated their athletic skills at Lawfit 2026, earning multiple top placements across various competitions, according to a post from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

In strength events, Tommy Stinson finished third in the bench press for males, while Julian Wells placed fourth and Mike Brown took fifth. Christian Coleman placed fourth among females. In the 1.5-mile run, Chelsey Giles finished first with a time of 8 minutes, 35 seconds, and Coleman was fifth with a time of 12 minutes, 10 seconds.

The team also performed well in endurance and agility events. Wells secured third in sit-ups for males, and Giles was fifth among females. Coleman earned second in pull-ups. In pursuit course competitions, Julian Wells finished second among males, with Jason Wells fifth, and Giles was second among females.

Teams from the patrol also secured several podium finishes. Giles and Brown placed third in mixed pairs, while Coleman and Bowie finished fifth. Giles and Coleman teamed up to finish second in female pairs, and Stinson and Julian Wells took second in the two-man team event. The four-man team of Stinson, Bowie, Brown, and Julian Wells finished second overall.

In overall awards, Giles finished second among females, with Coleman in fourth. Among males, Julian Wells placed fourth and Tommy Stinson fifth. The results showcase the patrol’s strong showing across multiple athletic disciplines at Lawfit 2026.
