MISSISSIPPI — The Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s Interdiction Unit conducted a routine commercial vehicle inspection on Interstate 22 in Pontotoc County on May 17, 2026, resulting in the seizure of nearly 460 pounds of illegal drugs, authorities said.
Officers seized approximately 376 pounds of methamphetamine, 82 pounds of marijuana, and 2 kilograms of powder cocaine during the operation, according to the department.
The driver, 32-year-old Ramar A. Lloyd of McDonough, Georgia, was arrested and taken to the Pontotoc County Detention Center. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance and one count of trafficking of a controlled substance, officials said.
Commissioner Sean Tindell emphasized law enforcement’s commitment to combating drug trafficking. “Mississippi law enforcement remains committed to aggressively targeting drug trafficking operations that threaten the safety of our communities,” he said. “This significant seizure is a direct result of the proactive work being done every day by our officers. Dangerous drugs like methamphetamine and cocaine destroy lives and fuel violent crime. We will continue working tirelessly to remove these substances from our highways and hold those responsible accountable.”
