Tupelo board honors two officers for kindness during traffic stop
The Tupelo Citizens Board recently recognized Officers S. Jones and T. Ward for a commendation after the officers spent time interacting with a young autistic child during a traffic stop, the board said.
According to the board, the officers took extra time during the stop to engage with the child, who was in the vehicle, demonstrating patience and care.
The child’s mother told the board the interaction meant a great deal to her family and that the officers’ kindness made a lasting impact on her son, the board said.
The Tupelo Police Department said it was proud of Officers Jones and Ward for representing the department in a professional and compassionate manner while serving the community.
