Mississippi opens disaster service centers in five counties after May storms

Disaster service centers opened in five Mississippi counties to help residents affected by severe storms May 6-7, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said. The centers allow residents to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists from MEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Small Business Administration, MEMA said.

The centers are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., MEMA said.

Those unable to apply in person can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by phone at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or through the FEMA app, MEMA said.

Applicants should use disaster number DR-4922 when applying. More information is available on MEMA’s website at https://www.msema.org/get-assistance/disaster-resources/disasters/may-6th-7th-severe-weather, the agency said.
